Festus Adedayo
Average Vendor RatingFestus Adedayo, journalist, newspaper columnist, media intellectual and lawyer was born in Akure, Ondo state. He holds a 1992 Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos and a 1995 MSc in Political Science from the Department of Politial Science, University of Ibadan. Before his MSc, he had a one-year stint as a corps member in the Zonal Social Welfare Office, Yelwa-Yauri, Kebbi State between 1992 and 1993. In Political 2010, Adedayo completed and was awarded a PhD in Science, University of Ibadan. In 2017, he graduated with an LLB from the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2019.
Adedayo worked as Senior Writer (Politics Desk) and Features Editor of the Tibune newspaper and left the newspaper in 2003 as Deputy Editor/Editorial Page Editor, to take up an appointment as Special Assistant (Public Policy Analysis) to the then governor of Enugu state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnaamani. He was promoted Special Adviser on Media to the governor in 2004 and left Enugu in 2007. In 2009, he held the position of chairman, Editorial Board of the defunct National Life newspaper, a position he occupied until his appointment by the former of Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as Special Adiviser on Media. Since 2015 when he left government, Adedayo has worked as a Communication Consultant to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA); Media Consultant; Speech Writer and Ghost Writer. He is also a member of the Tribune’s Editorial Board and Board Member of Crest FM Radio, Akure.
From 1998 when he began writing a column he called Festus Adedayo’s Flickers for the Sunday Tribune, he has established a renown as a fierce writer who fears seldom whose ox was gored. His weekly interventions on issues of contemporary society receive syndication in Cable Nigeria, Premium Times, sometimes Sahara Reporters and in many other online media outlets.
