Noirledge Publishing

Bold Stories That Matter…

African literature has always carried the weight of truth. For over a decade, Noirledge Publishing has stood at the centre of that literary tradition, building a catalogue of more than 200 titles that matter. We publish the books that last, the voices that refuse to be silenced, and the stories that will sit on shelves for generations.

Noirledge is a combination of noir (the dark, the hidden, the unspoken) and knowledge. We are the knowledge of what lives in shadows. We are the publishers who believe that the most important stories are often the hardest to tell, and we bring those stories into the light.

From Ìbàdàn, we have watched Nigerian and African literature grow stronger. We have seen new writers emerge, readers multiply, and conversations deepen. We have published Nigeria Prize winners, supported debut authors, and built relationships with writers across genres and generations. But we are not finished.

This is not just about publishing books. It is about building the infrastructure that allows African stories to thrive. It is about editorial integrity, production quality, and making sure the right books reach the right readers. It is about creating a literary culture that does not depend on trends or external validation but stands firm on its own merit.

We do not chase what is popular. We publish what is necessary.

At Noirledge, we think of ourselves as custodians. We hold space for writers whose work will outlive the noise. We believe that together, with careful attention and long-term commitment, we can continue to raise the standard for African publishing. Come join us. Let us read together. Let us publish together. Let us build together.

Company Profile

Noirledge Publishing is an independent African publishing house based in Ìbàdàn, Nigeria. We were founded in 2012 by award-winning poet and cultural advocate Servio Gbadamosi. What started as a vision to publish serious African literature has grown into one of the continent’s most respected literary institutions.

We are a dedicated team of editors, designers, and literary advocates. Over the past twelve years, we have published more than 200 writers. Some of them have won the Nigeria Prize for Literature. Others have received the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa, the Association of Nigerian Authors Prizes, and recognition on international stages. We do not take credit for their talent. We simply gave them a platform and worked hard to make their books as good as they could be.

Noirledge operates through three imprints: Noirledge, Winepress, and Frangipani. Each imprint serves a different editorial purpose, but all three maintain the same commitment to quality, rigour, and respect for the written word.

We believe in literature as archive and imagination. We believe books preserve what would otherwise be forgotten and open pathways to what has not yet been imagined. We believe African stories deserve the same level of editorial care, production quality, and global distribution as any other literature in the world.

That is what we do. That is why we exist.
